I didn't know the lure of 'abroad' can be so overwhelming before I hired first maid in Singapore.  

I still remember my short meeting that the maid-agency guy had arranged between us. She was seated in my drawing-room and looked scared like a dove, sitting so uncomfortably on the sofa-edge and twitching her toe... I don't know why, but I had suddenly felt certain affinity with her, or may be, it was pity, even today I don't know the exact emotion that made me choose her for my baby in this foreign country in spite of repeated warnings against hiring maids through maid-agencies.

She shifted in my house as I was to provide for her lodging and she was to stay with us. I was able to see the genuine love for my daughter in her eyes from day one and the way both were bonding together was amazing, what more I could have asked for as a working mom? So what if she didn't know any cooking (except for boiling magi!!) and any other work that maids are expected to do... My only concern was my baby and she was well taken care of, rest of things can be taught but you can't teach anyone to love a person. On this note her training begun.

Here I would like to bring an important issue to the group which is facing Bihar and Jharkhand today.
The issue is commoditization of education in south India and its consequences on Bihar and Jharkhand where the education infrastructure is at its bare minimum; and many a times - absent.First I will discuss about the mushrooming growth of educational institutions and their effect on the overall educational system of the country and then I will discuss the consequences for the students of Bihar and Jharkhand.
