Bijhar Charity Initiative 2012 Print
Written by Rajesh Anand

Charity initiatives by friends of BIJHAR

As some of you may be aware, a group of BIJHAR members and their friends have been engaged in a little charity work both in India and Singapore in the last few years. As a part of this initiative, the participants contribute a minimum sum of S$ 20 every month. However, there is no upper limit and some members in the past have contributed upto S$50 and S$100 every month also. The sum thus collected is disbursed to a number of NGOs and other institutions who accept donations from public. The NGOs and institutions covered in the past have included:

Gramin Evam Nagar Vikas Parishad, Patna (
http://www.genvp.org/)
Nidan, Patna (
http://www.nidan.in/)
Asha Vihar, Bokaro (
http://www.ashanet.org/projects/project-view.php?p=435)
Jharkhand Vikas Nyas, Ramgarh, Ranchi
Children Of Mother Earth, Uttar Pradesh (
http://www.comeinternational.org/index.html)
SPD, Singapore (
http://www.spd.org.sg/)

These efforts are in addition to the blood donation campaigns, visits to local institutions like MINDS etc. which is arranged under the banner of BIJHAR. The current scheme of committing a fixed sum every month is not a BIJHAR program but rather an initiative of friends of BIJHAR which is supported by BIJHAR members. Hence, accounting etc. for this initiative is completely outside the purview of BIJHAR.

We are pleased to inform that after a somewhat longish gap probably due to our collective inertia, the friends have decided to revive this initiative and Varun Mittal, our young and enthusiastic member of BIJHAR has gladly accepted the task of maintaining the collection account and consolidation of the monthly or periodic contributions received from the members and their friends. You may recall that one of our key BIJHAR members, Ritesh Kumar, who relocated to USA was the person in-charge in the earlier efforts.

Please do note that no receipts will be issued for the money received from the individual contributors. However, the receipt for the sum disbursed and the details of collection will be informed, as and when required. Your valuable contribution can be sent to the following account.

Varun Mittal

POSB Saving

A/c No   : 248-18661-5

Branch Code: 129

Branch Name: POSB Jurong Point

The collection scheme has come into effect from January 2012. Several individuals with a monthly commitment of S$20 and S$50 have already signed up.

The NGO's and the institutions listed above have all been researched and to the best of our knowledge they have been found to be excellent organizations with impressive track records. Senior friends of BIJHAR have visited most of the institutions and some charity programs have also been held in Singapore and India with their office bearers.

We humbly seek your participation and support in this noble and spiritual effort and urge you to rope in your friends and relatives as well.
